Updating Your Contact Info In cPanel

Author: Web Design / e-Hosting
We specialize on hosting solution, server solution and web solution. Besides providing web hosting and web & graphic designing services, we are also able develop custom web-based solutions, e-commerce hosting and custom web programming.

When you have a cPanel account, it is important that you keep your contact information up-to-date. If you keep your contact information up-to-date, your web hosting provider can deliver updates, news and send important notifications to your account. If you don’t, you may miss on information that may be vital for you.

Updating your contact information in cPanel is fairly easy. As a great web administering tool, the cPanel supports easy modification and update of available data. All you need to do is make a few clicks, type in the information and you should be good to go.

To update your contact information, first you need to log into your cPanel account. Open your browser and type http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel or http://www.yourdomain.com:2082 in the address box. Click “Go” or hit the “Enter” button on your keyboard to proceed. You will then be prompted for your username and password. After you have supplied both, click on “OK” and the main page of the cPanel interface will load.

Next, you can proceed to the “Preferences” menu. The “Preferences” menu is where you can modify the look and feel of your account, change settings and create shortcuts. There are seven options in the “Preferences” menu: “Getting Started Wizard”, “Video Tutorials”, “Change Password”, “Update Contact Info”, “Change Style”, “Change Language”, and “Shortcuts”. Click on the “Update Contact Info” option to continue.

Once the page has loaded, enter your email address in the textbox that says “Contact Email”. Next, click on the “Save Email” button. You should see a message that says, “Contact Email has been set to Contact_Email for Domain_Name”. Your contact information has now been changed.

When changing your contact information, you should remember a few important things. The first and most important, it is advised that you do not use the email account that is hosted on or associated with the domain your web hosting account is using. For example, if your web hosting account is running on the domain www.mydomain.com, you should not supply the email mymail@mydomain.com as your contact information. Instead, try using a different email address that is not associated with any of the domain in your cPanel account. This ensures that if something should happen to your domain or your webmail account on your domain, you can still receive information from your web hosting provider.

Secondly, you should remember to update your contact information if you change email address. This guarantees you to receive information from your web hosting provider.
